In INTERCOMMUNITY JUSTICE AND PEACE CENTER, et al. v. REGISTRAR, OHIO BUREAU OF MOTOR VEHICLES, U.S. District Judge Edmund A. Sargus, Jr. ruled that the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) cannot deny driver’s licenses and Ohio identification cards to otherwise eligible U.S. citizens and documented children of foreign-born parents because of the parents’ immigration status. The class action was brought by Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) on behalf of Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center (IJPC) and impacted Ohio youth.
